The Receipt in My Wallet

Written for Nadia · anniversary

0:00

Nadia — happy anniversary. I never told you this, but I still have the receipt from that laundromat. It's in my wallet.

Spoken over the intro, before the singing starts at 14 seconds

Start with their name

Write a few sentences — or let a few short questions pull the story out of you. Nothing is recorded until you've read the words.

Your story is only used to write this song. It's never published, and you can delete it any time after delivery.

They are your…
What's the occasion?

How it works

Every step below is the real sample song — his actual sentences, the actual lines they became, and the finished recording.

  1. 01

Start with what only you know

A few sentences in your own words — or a few short questions if you're stuck. Either way, the song is built from moments, not adjectives — “she cries at every film and calls it a yawn” is worth more than “she’s kind.”

    What he typed

We met in a laundromat on a Sunday. She was reading a library book about volcanoes and didn't look up once.

  2. 02

    Read the lyrics first

You see the words before anything is recorded. Change a line, pick a different spoken intro, or ask for a whole new version. All free. Nothing on this side was invented — every detail came from the sentence above.

    What it became

you had a library book on volcanoes and nowhere else to go.

You never once looked up at me — I stood there anyway.

Every other line traces back the same way — see all four
    • She still alphabetises the spice rack when she's anxious. I've stopped moving things back.

When you're worried you alphabetise the spices on the shelf, and I stopped putting them back wrong; I let you be yourself.
    • When I lost the contract in March she didn't say it would be fine. She just cancelled her Thursday and drove me to the coast.

In March I lost the contract and you didn't say it's fine —you cancelled Thursday, drove me to the coastline.
    • I've never told her I kept the receipt from that first laundromat. It's in my wallet.

It's still in my wallet, folded soft and thin, the first small paper proof of where we both begin.
  3. 03

Hear it for free, then decide

Two recordings of the same song — the same words, sung two different ways. Keep whichever one you'd want them to hear. You only pay for the one you keep.

Nadia — happy anniversary. I never told you this, but I still have the receipt from that laundromat. It's in my wallet.

Spoken over the intro, before the singing starts at 14 seconds

Not the promise, not the speech — the getting in the car. That's the thing I married. That's who you are.

The bridge — from a single detail, not from any of the words he used

Swap Nadia's name for anyone else's and the song stops making sense. That's the only standard that separates a personalized song from a template.

What makes it sound like them

Lyrics that name real things

Every song has to fail one test: swap the name and it should fall apart. If a line could be sent to anyone, it doesn’t belong in the song. And we never invent a memory you didn’t give us.

Your words before the music

A line or two spoken over the intro, written for you to say out loud — plain, no rhyme, no announcer voice. Pick one of three, change any word, or turn it off.

Everything included in one price

Lossless WAV and MP3, plus a private page you can send. The file is yours the moment you pay — there is nothing else to buy.

What people write them for

Anniversaries
The year you met, in the chorus. Play it at dinner instead of handing over another card.
Birthdays
Something they can keep playing after the day is over.
Weddings and proposals
A first dance nobody else has danced to, or the question asked in a way she’ll remember.
No occasion at all
The strongest ones, honestly. Nothing lands like a song that arrived on a Tuesday.

Who are you writing it for?

Same product, different starting point — each page walks through what to write for that person, and what you get.

One song, or every occasion this year

Questions people ask first

What do I actually get?

The full song as a lossless WAV and an MP3, and a private page you can send them. A lyric video and printable wall art are on the way — free for every song you've made when they land.

How much do I have to tell you?

Less than you’d think. “She believed in me when work fell apart” is enough to write a whole song from. We only use what you give us — we never invent a memory, because a made-up detail is worse than a plain line.

Can I change the lyrics?

Yes. You read them before anything is recorded, you can edit any line yourself, and you can ask for a completely new version once, free.

How long does it take?

About half a minute to write the lyrics, then about a minute to record two versions. Most people are done in under five minutes.

Can I use the song however I want?

Yes — you get full ownership and unrestricted usage rights: play it, post it, print it, use it at a wedding. One honest note: under US law, audio generated by AI can’t be copyrighted, so this isn’t the same as holding a copyright. For a gift it makes no practical difference.

What if the song isn’t right?

Then don't pay for it. Rewriting the lyrics and recording new versions are both free and unlimited before you unlock anything — keep going until one sounds right. You only pay for a recording you've already heard and picked.

Is a real person singing it?

No — the singing is generated, not recorded with a session singer. That's what makes it $29.99 and ready in minutes rather than $199 and a fortnight. Rather than take our word for how that sounds, the sample near the top of this page is a real one, straight out of the same pipeline — press play and judge it yourself. What isn't automated is the part that decides whether it lands: the words come from your story, and nothing gets stated that you didn't tell us.
